How to book wedding clients with Pinterest!

The Magic of Pinterest!

Is it really possible to have such a great Pinterest page that you can book your wedding clients directly through it? Pinterest might not yet have a direct marketplace feature, but that doesn’t stop many wedding creatives from successfully pulling in new clients through their Pinterest pages every day!

Of course, Pinterest is first and foremost a social platform, and the first challenge is sifting through the passive users until you actually reach the potential clients.

Pinterest is a Search Engine!

Let me tell you a story. When I first joined the world of Pinterest, I had no idea what I was doing. Booking wedding clients seemed a far-off goal that my obscure Pinterest boards and random pictures would never be able to achieve. That is until I began to understand the value of Pinterest as a SEARCH ENGINE.

After all, though popularly defined under the social media umbrella, Pinterest is not technically a social media outlet; but rather a search engine designed for creative people and those looking for inspiration. Tapping into that market simply requires a solid strategy and some fantastic content, both of which will see you rise up the ranks of popularity on Pinterest.

Optimizing your Pins the right way!

First up, adding new Pins. When you add a Pin, the image or text will copy across with a URL, and that URL is where your active users will end up if they like your post and decide to click on it. Making sure those users end up where you want them to be is the key. Wedding photographers, for example, will often link their Pins back to a relevant album of photos they’ve taken; choosing the destination URL based on the style of wedding represented in each Pin. Look at it like this – if you see a Winter-themed photoshoot and are interested in learning more, clicking through to a summer wedding album is unlikely to seal the deal. Keep it relevant!

Getting a Business account.

Signing up for a Pinterest Business account is the first step towards being able to track the popularity of your Pins and drive active users directly towards your website. If booking wedding clients is your end goal, make sure the journey those clients go through is as smooth as possible by verifying your website to Pinterest and creating direct links.

Start making a keyword strategy.

Another area to focus on as a wedding creative is your keywords. As creatives, we can often rely too heavily on the images and visual aspects of our Pins and posts, and forget entirely about the accompanying text. Wedding photographers are the same, often allowing their images to get lost among a sea of photos that simply have better captions and keywords. The way around this? Spend time sorting out your words. And find relevant keywords that describe your photo/ style/ theme and location.

Think about what a potential client of yours might be searching for. Is there an area you specialize in? What kind of search terms might bring a customer to your page? What is unique about your business? Once you’ve answered these questions, start breaking the answers down into a series of important keywords – and pop those keywords into your Pin titles and descriptions, and even your Board titles! The more relevant the words, the better your chance of being discovered.

Optimize your board content.

And then we come to content. This one may seem obvious, but ensuring your Pinterest page showcases a good balance of visual posts, unique Pins and relevant content re-pinned from other pages is one of the best ways to show Pinterest that you are the real deal. In a world where wedding creatives can be found around every corner and across every board, make sure you stand out – and you’ll be booking your wedding clients through Pinterest in no time!

The power of Pinterest Group boards and Tailwind Tribes.

Group Boards and Tribes are a great way of exposing your pins to a new audience for free. Together with like-minded wedding creatives you share each other’s pins and grow together. You pin your pin in on of the group boards and you will re-pin a pin from the board. That’s how easy it is. When for instance a bridal photographer pins your pin on their board then their followers will be introduced to your pin. It's a great way to expose your pins to potential clients.

How can you find relevant group boards? It’s really easy just head over to www.pingroupie.com and search for wedding group boards. Another way is finding relevant boards on Pinterest by using the search bar or visit a profile of someone in your niche and see if they joined any group boards.

Tailwind Tribes work similaIr to Pinterest group boards only it’s all within the Tailwind app. I listed my favorite wedding-related Tribes HERE.

With so many tips and methods available to explore, creating a great Pinterest page can become quite overwhelming. That’s where I can help. Working closely with you to define your Pinterest needs, my work specializes in devising the perfect strategy to convert users to customers, and ensure every item on your Pinterest profile supports your success.
