4 ways to grow your Pinterest with Facebook

4 ways to grow your Pinterest with Facebook

Use the power of Facebook!

Facebook is one of the most well-known and iconic social media platforms around, with seemingly every other person on the planet posting daily updates, pictures of their pets, and commenting on funny memes. In short, it’s a minefield of content and users can be on there for an infinite number of reasons, from tracking old friends to inviting people to their latest party.

So how can we use Facebook marketing to grow the value and presence of our Pinterest? In this blog we will be talking about how to claim your Facebook account in Pinterest (and what “Claiming” actually means), how to share your content across both platforms, how to add the Facebook tab, and how to promote Pinterest marketing boards on Facebook.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN:

  • Claim your Facebook Page

  • Pin your content across the different platforms

  •  Add the Facebook/Pinterest Tab

  • Promote Pinterest boards through Facebook marketing

Claim your Facebook Page

While your Pinterest users could be anyone, based anywhere in the world, the chances are that your friends and followers on Facebook are known to you (for the most part). The set-up of Facebook generally means that people add those who they know, due to the personal nature of the information that is shared across Facebook on a daily basis. But that doesn’t mean we can’t harness your Facebook fans and turn them into Pinterest followers!

As a small business owner, linking your Pinterest profile to your personal Facebook account is not a problem – in fact it’s easy. However, there is no direct way to link your Pinterest marketing to your Facebook PAGE, meaning that many businesses are losing out on a valuable network of fans who use Facebook but may not know Pinterest.

Therefore, we claim our Facebook page on Pinterest. Much like in the case of Instagram, to claim (and that means to link!) your Facebook page with your Pinterest account, click on the three dots to the top-right of your Pinterest account page and select “Claim”. By doing this, not only are your accounts synchronized but it also means any shares of your Facebook marketing through Pinterest will be attributed back to yourself. You’ll get all the credit, with none of the sharing work!

Pin your content across the different platforms

The next step to using Facebook marketing for the benefit of Pinterest is to post your best Pins onto Facebook. We’ve already established that Facebook marketing reaches one of the widest demographics of any social platform, so allowing them to see you Pins can only be a good thing, right?

To do this, log into Pinterest, find the Pin you want to share, and select to share it with Facebook. A little added description about the content and how users can view more like it will push Pinterest users towards your page, even if they have only discovered you on Facebook so far. And by reaching them, you never know how many of their separate networks you may become exposed to!

 Add the Facebook/Pinterest Tab

The tabs on each platform allow you to view content on the other, without ever leaving the page you originally started on. Sounds complex, but basically all it does is create a super-easy user experience which allows the customer to check something out on Pinterest without ever leaving Facebook.

Making sure your Pinterest marketing actually becomes seen is the challenge, with many Facebook users unaware or unaffected by the ability to view anything on Pinterest. If, however, the content you share on Pinterest is valuable to your marketing campaign and you want to direct as many people towards it as possible, inserting a Pinterest Tab into your Facebook business page is easy – simply connect the pages via the ‘Pinterest Tab for Pages’ App, using your Facebook Business Page and the link to your Pinterest profile.

Promote Pinterest boards through Facebook marketing

I like this one a lot because it allows you to pick and choose which styles of content to share with your Facebook fans, while also introducing them to the diversity of your Pins. You may choose to share a Summer page one week, and then a festive selection the next week. Or perhaps you promote foreign culture one week and local cuisine the next – whatever you pick, promoting different boards through Facebook marketing is a great way to advertise your Pinterest to a wider audience.

Understanding the differences between Pinterest and Facebook can become a bit of a minefield if you aren’t used to social media – and in a world where content has to be relevant all the time, it can be hard to get left behind. My Pinterest management packages offer support with everything from strategy to regular posting, so get in touch today to find out how I can help you create the best Pinterest profile going.
