Up your Pinterest game with Video’s

Have you already tried pinning videos on Pinterest?

Pinterest is the home of visual marketing, there’s no doubt about it. And while photos are great for repinning and saving, videos are where the personality behind your brand really gets its spotlight. If you already use video content in your marketing campaign, then video on Pinterest is the natural next step for you, and I’m here to tell you how – and why!

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN:

  • Why to use Pinterest Videos.

  • How to use Pinterest Videos.

  • How to upload a Pinterest Video.

Why to use Pinterest Videos?

The world is becoming more impatient and when we look for inspiration today, seeing everything we want in one place is both quick and easy to identify with. I know that if I see a video of a beautiful Bride walking up the aisle in a spectacular venue, holding an exquisite bouquet and showing off a stunning hairstyle, chances are I will want it all. It’s in our nature. Videos inspire a more instant call-to-action, and for those businesses who use them all, they really work.

So, why does a video on Pinterest work so well for businesses? First things first, videos autoplay on your users’ feed, meaning that even if they don’t directly click to view the content, the video will commence automatically. Videos are also placed at the top of the search feed by Pinterest, meaning everyone who searches for anything related to your video, will see your video FIRST. It really doesn’t get much better than that.

How to use Pinterest Videos?

The experts behind the scenes at Pinterest have recognized the value of videos, and have since made it spectacularly easy for us mere mortals to use. The video uploader is user-friendly and the video tab on your business profile means that all your videos are stored safely in one place. Best of all, Pinterest has now allowed us to schedule video pins ahead of time, so that even when we’re soaking up the sun on our summer holiday, we can rest assured our Pinterest page is still working hard.

The fundamental thing to remember with video on Pinterest is the call-to-action button that sits in the bottom left corner. This is what will link your video pin to the rest of your marketing campaign and will drive traffic onto your other platforms. Video on Pinterest is a clickable feature, driving users onto your site or other social platforms with the same ease as a generic static pin. Much like your other pins you can view the analytics for your video pins easily and quickly, allowing you to analyze what is working and build your strategy accordingly.

So, back to basics. How do we upload a video on Pinterest?

It’s really much the same as any other pin. Click the red PLUS sign at the top right of your account screen, then upload your video – along with relevant hashtags and keywords. Even when you’re safe in the knowledge that your video will display at the top of the page, you still need to do the groundwork to make that pin relevant in the eyes of Pinterest. Then, once you’ve selected the right board, click Publish! And hooray, you’re done!

If creating the video pin itself is getting you all in a twist, fear not. Creating a video pin is straightforward enough, and with so many different options available, you shouldn’t have too much trouble creating something great. Sharing your existing Instagram stories is one of the easiest ways; though there are alternatives, including Canva templates for animated videos, Photoshop, and even Slider (a free mobile app).

Harnessing the interest your video creates is key, and when creating your video pin, you do need to be wary of how much content you give away for free. After all, if your video includes everything a user could possibly get from that campaign, why would they click through to your site? Video on Pinterest is part of that all-important customer journey, so make sure your strategy takes into account the content of each video and what the call-to-action would be for any user.
