Why monthly views aren't important for your Pinterest Marketing

Are you also focusing on your Monthly Views?

You know that little number sat towards the top of your Pinterest page? The one that increases daily? I’m about to blow that completely apart. I am of course referring to the monthly unique visitors – a stat which may seem like the be-all-and-end-all, but in the world of Pinterest marketing, really is just a number. Let’s talk about why.

In short, I’ve been there. I used to spend all my time worrying about how much the number had grown by and how I could make it grow even more, truly believing that 400,000 meant that many people were viewing my Pinterest profile every month. I was ecstatic… but I was also completely wrong.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN:

  • Why monthly views aren’t important.

  • What you should focus on instead.

  • It’s all in your Pinterest Analytics.

Why monthly views aren’t important.

Spoiler Alert: Pinterest’s monthly views figure translates to the number of people who see your pins – and unfortunately this number includes those who simply scroll right past them. A harsh reality perhaps, but in truth it doesn’t really mean very much at all.  Of course, a high number looks good on our profile and we’d be silly not to feel a little bit happy when we see it increasing, as it means Pinterest is displaying our content in people’s feeds, but it’s important to remember that this alone doesn’t earn you the Gold badge in Pinterest marketing.

What you should focus on instead!

What we SHOULD be focussing on is how many people are clicking on and sharing our pins. Pinterest marketing is an art, and as savvy business owners, we know that the better our pins and our profile, the better it is for business.

So, if that’s all true, why do businesses and bloggers continue to brag about the number of monthly views they have on their Pinterest page? Do they not understand that it doesn’t mean much at all?

Of course, they know! I’m telling you that the number is only really there for the feel-good factor – and that’s precisely why they use it. If someone trying to sell you a service or product told you they had thousands of views to their page, you’d think they were the real deal, right? It sounds impressive and it may well work if what you’re looking for is a bit of kudos. The important thing to remember though is that monthly views don’t mean website visitors, they don’t mean sales, and they don’t mean a successful business.

It’s all in your Pinterest Analytics.

So, what should we focus on instead? This is where Pinterest Analytics comes in! Don’t let the word “Analytics” put you off – the beauty of Pinterest Analytics is that the geniuses at Pinterest have created a super user-friendly base on which you can start to monitor and understand how your page is actually performing.

Using Pinterest Analytics, you can view a variety of different monthly figures for your profile, including the pins which have created the most interaction and how many people have clicked through to your website. THIS is what matters.
